Clipper of Denmark is keeping mum on reports it has snapped up a fleet of four handysize bulkers from compatriot Norden.

Copenhagen-quoted Norden reported on Wednesday that it had sold the 32,000-dwt Nord Hong Kong, Nord Houston, Nord London and Nord Vancouver (all built 2011).

Brokers say Frank Jensen’s Clipper has picked up the ships at $6.3m each.

Peter Norborg, chief executive of the Clipper Group, declined to comment on the rumour when contacted by TradeWinds today.

The sale of the handysize ships marked the second en bloc disposal of non-core bulkers by Norden in under a week, after the exit of four post-panamaxes.

As TradeWinds newspaper reported this week, those ships were divided up between Oldendorff, SwissMarine and Laskaridis.

Norden has eight owned handysize ships remaining and has stated it will look to focus only on chartered ships in that subsector long-term. Future investments in dry cargo will be directed in the panamax and supramax arenas.
