Maersk Broker is strengthening its sale-and-purchase division with three new recruits.

The Danish shipbroking house is bolstering its offices in Asia by hiring experienced brokers from Simpson Spence Young (SSY).

George Bolton and Kieron Zhang will be joining the Singapore office. Christopher Clapham, who was previously based in SSY London, will be relocating to Hong Kong.

SSY partner Dominic Parker, who heads the S&P department in London and Singapore, confirmed the departure of the three brokers, who he described as “good guys”.

Well travelled

Parker said Bolton had worked at SSY for 14 years and had previously headed the S&P team in Singapore but had been replaced by Thanos Pasialis in April.

Zhang is believed to have started his new job as his name is already listed on Maersk Broker’s website. As for Bolton and Clapham, they will become official members of Maersk Broker in autumn.

Maersk Broker has been active in expanding its shipbroking team. It had several new recruits joining the dry cargo business last year. They included Christian Norup, Sean Higgins and Victor Hsu.

Headquartered in Copenhagen, Maersk Broker was established in 1914. It has offices spread across 15 countries with about 240 employees.

The company is privately owned by Ane Maersk Mc-Kinney Uggla and her sisters.
