Mike Meade’s new London offshore brokerage has completed its debut roster with the appointment of Charlie Long.

The broker has joined M3 Marine (Offshore Brokers) UK as a director/offshore broker.

The UK offshoot of Singapore shop M3 Marine started trading on 1 November under managing director Robert Day.

Day, like Long, is an alumnus of valuation platform VesselsValue.

Long was a commercial offshore analyst there and Day was head of offshore.

The new recruit spent more than three years at VesselsValue and was working at the same time as a broker for the platform’s former parent company Seasure Shipbroking.

M3 Marine said that Long has a “stellar” background in the offshore vessel sector.

His “impressive” career includes roles as a trainee at UK offshore brokerage Kennedy Marr, the company added.

“Charlie has an exceptional track record, having facilitated numerous vessel transactions within regions such as the Gulf of Mexico and Middle East, while providing valuation expertise and industry-specific reports for a range of major stakeholders including vessel owners, oil companies and investors,” M3 said.

Secondhand and newbuilding work

At M3 Marine, Long will focus on newbuildings, secondhand sale and purchase, demolition and chartering markets.

“His wealth of experience aligns perfectly with our mission to deliver the highest quality brokerage services in the offshore and renewable sector. Charlie’s appointment is a significant asset to our team, and we look forward to his contributions in elevating our services even further,” the start-up said.

TradeWinds reported in October that Meade was setting up in the UK capital to capture growing demand.
