Turkey’s Armona Denizcilik has sold one of its long-serving product tankers into Spain.

The Istanbul company, part of Lorenz Weinstabl’s Atlantis Tankers Group, said the departure of the 6,400-dwt Atlantis Andaman (built 2009) is the end of an era.

Director Marlon Weinstabl confirmed to TradeWinds the buyer is Distribuidora Maritima Petrogas, which will use the ship for its services in the Canary Islands.

Owned by Armona since delivery, the vessel was built by Istanbul Shipyard.

No price was given by brokers for the sale.

VesselsValue rates the tanker, now renamed the Hesperides, as worth $9.16m, up from $5m two years ago.

The ship had a special survey due when it was sold.

Armona retains eight tankers built between 2004 and 2017. They range in size from 3,800 dwt to 7,200 dwt.

Petrogas owns four other tankers of up to 17,500 dwt.

Armona said its staff felt a mix of emotions after the sale, including “pride, nostalgia, and gratitude”.

“We are proud of the vessel’s impeccable record, its dedicated crew and the countless memories it has created. We are nostalgic for the times past, the adventures had and the milestones achieved,” the company said.

“And we are grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of this vessel’s journey,” it added.

“We will miss her in our fleet, but we take comfort in knowing that she will continue to sail on with a company that shares very similar corporate values and commitment to excellence,” Armona said.

FEM Shipbrokers and law firm Hill Dickinson were involved in the sale.
