All 23 crew are safe and well in Iran following the attack on a Frontline tanker in the Middle East Gulf on Thursday.

Manager ITM said the seafarers were disembarked at the port of Jask after abandoning the 110,000-dwt Front Altair (built 2016) and being picked up by an Iranian rescue boat.

"The crew are on their way to Bandar Abbas prior to repatriation," it added.

Families are being kept informed of the situation, it said.

Front Altair was one of two tankers targeted in an apparent torpedo and mine attack on Thursday.

The Frontline ship suffered a fire, but the flames were extinguished last night.

ITM said boundary cooling was continuing on Friday. The tanker is stable and no pollution has been reported.

"One further salvage tug is expected on scene with an ETA of 1300 hours today, equipped with salvage fire-fighting and towing capability," ITM added.

A further specialist team which consists of a full salvage team and ship management personnel is expected to arrive on Saturday for full assessment of the damage.
