Naftomar of Greece is selling its oldest VLGC for scrap, sources say.

European demolition brokers say the 78,000-cbm Gaz Supplier (built 1990) will go for green recycling in India.

The ship is understood to have fetched $425 per ldt, or $7.3m, which is said to represent a fall demolition pricing.

Naftomar bought the vessel as Gas Leo from Astomos Energy Corp in October 2012 for $15.5m.

The Greek owner did not respond to requests for comment during the Christmas period.

Naftomar was left with a fleet of four VLGCs after selling the 77,000-cbm Gaz Unity (built 1982) for scrap in June.

After disposing of Gaz Supplier, its oldest VLGC will be the 79,000-cbm Gaz Liberty (built 1997). It was purchased as Fountain River for $16m in July.

Demolition reports continue to surround the 59,000-cbm BW Helios (built 1992).

Earlier this month the owner denied a final decision had been made to scrap the ship.
