Pools player Navig8 Group has expanded its eco MR operation further in a deal with Norwegian owner DSD Shipping.

The group said it was “delighted” to take over the commercial running of the 50,000-dwt Stavanger Pioneer (built 2019) and Stavanger Poseidon (built 2020) through its Eco MR Pool.

Both ships were handed over in December, bringing the total number of tankers in the pool to 13.

Navig8 also manages five more older MRs in a separate pool.

DSD has two other MRs in its fleet, plus two small clean tankers in a joint venture with compatriot Meling and Co.

The 50,000-dwt Stavanger Pearl and Stavanger Pride (both built 2020) could also now be candidates for a switch to Navig8.

All four MRs were previously operating in the Maersk MR Pool.

In November, Navig8 said it was now managing all nine of Greek owner Latsco Shipping’s modern MR tankers.

The 50,000-dwt MR2 Hellas Margarita (built 2017) was the last to join the Eco MR Pool.

LR1s added

Latsco already had its eight other eco vessels operating in the pool.

Two other older Latsco MRs are operated by Glencore’s ST Shipping.

In the same month, Navig8 also took over management of two LR1s acquired by Dubai-based Transworld Group, as the owner broker into the tanker arena.

The two 74,000-dwt clean carriers were renamed as TTC Vidyut and TTC Shakti after their purchase from Germany’s Schulte Group.

The former Azurite and Amber (both built 2008) were reportedly offloaded in September for around $19m each.
