Danish tanker owner Torm is being linked with the sale of a second veteran vessel in quick succession.

If confirmed, it would continue a flow of older vessels out of the Torm fleet as it takes in a vast newbuilding orderbook.

Brokers said the 36,900-dwt Torm Saone (built 2004) had been sold at a price suggested to be north of $8m.

It comes just a couple of weeks after reports surfaced of the 47,000-dwt Torm San Jacinto being divested.

Torm did not respond to request for comment on the latest transaction.

The Danish owner has been actively renewing its fleet during the latest downturn in the product tanker market and is a vocal supporter of consolidation.

It invested in a number of resales in 2017 to add to its own newbuildings on order at Guangzhou Shipyard International.

In June it purchased four more tankers in an $83m deal for vessels managed by Claus-Peter Offen.

Data from VesselsValue suggests Torm has sold four other ships this year and four more during 2018.
