Artica Adventure & Cruise Shipping is denying reports circulating in the cruise industry that it has sold its 12,900-gt cruiseship Minerva (built 1996).

Some industry sources suggest Canadian expedition cruise operator G Adventures has bought the ship to relaunch Swan Hellenic, a cruise brand it bought from All Leisure Group’s liquidators earlier this year.

However, both parties firmly dismissed these suggestions when contacted by TradeWinds.

The Minerva has been in layup since a long-term charter to Swan Hellenic Cruises came to an abrupt end last December due to the bankruptcy of All Leisure.

Dr Klaus Dimigen, a Hamburg-based maritime lawyer who acts as a representative for Artica, stresses that while the ship is being marketed for sale, no deal to sell it has been concluded.

G Adventures press spokesperson Casey Mead also denies the company is involved with any deal to buy the ship. “I am afraid there is no truth to this rumour,” she said.
