Korean shipbuilder Daesun has clinched a domestic order for feeder containerships.

The yard said that Namsung Shipping has signed up for one firm 1,000-teu vessel, with an option attached.

The eco-pair will be fitted with exhaust scrubbers.

Namsung has 25 feederships operational, with the last deliveries coming in 2016.

In June, TradeWinds reported that Daesun had won an order from Korea Shipping Corp (KSC) for two 20,000-dwt self-unloading bulkers.

The vessels were costing $33m each and are scheduled for delivery in January 2020.

KSC, a subsidiary of the Samla Midas (SM) group, ordered the ships on the back of long-term consecutive voyage charters (CVC) from a local power company.
