The European Commission has cleared CMA CGM's acquisition of Finland's Containerships.
It concluded that the combination would not affect competition due to its limited impact on the sector.
The deal will now close on 31 October.
The French line agreed in June to buy Containerships from its owner Container Finance. The deal also included holdings in Multi-Link Terminals and CD Holding.
The company has a workforce of 560 people and operates 15 ships, one of which is owned.
The deal also means CMA CGM will get its hands on Containerships' six LNG-fueled newbuildings, which are delivering up to 2021 from Huangpu Wenchong in China.
The ships cost around $32m each — $7m-$9m more than a conventional vessel. Germany’s Nordic Hamburg is supervising the build and will also manage the quartet.
Containerships will handle all commercial operations.
