A Maersk Line containership has been arrested in Tunisia over different claims against the owner.
The company said the 1,068-teu Alexander Maersk (built 1998) was held in Sfax on 10 September.
“This is related to different claims cases which we are looking into and have informed our insurance company about. We cooperate with all relevant authorities to resolve the matter as quickly as possible,” it added.
There has been speculation that the move was made by some shippers who claim to have lost money in the fire on Maersk Honam earlier this year.
The last AIS update on 19 September shows the vessel still moored in the port.
Alexander Maersk hit the headlines earlier this year when it rescued 113 migrants in the Mediterranean and then had to wait for three days off Sicily while their disembarkation was agreed.
