Shipmanagement stalwart Nils Aden is joining marine services provider V. Group.
The move comes as the world’s largest third-party shipmanager prepares to handle the management of an enlarged fleet of more than 40 German-controlled containerships.
Aden assumed the position of managing director of V. Ships Germany on January 1.
His appointment comes shortly after the acquisition late last year by V.Group and its private equity partner Advent of Norddeutsche Reederei H. Schuldt (NRS), which manages a fleet of 46 container vessels.
In an e-mail sent to business partners yesterday, Aden said that teams from both companies were working together on the NRS premises in Hamburg.
He described the newly established operation as part of V. Group’s continued growth plans.
He also alluded to further investment “to create a centre of excellence for the management of the global container fleet in Hamburg.”
V. Ships will handle technical management of the containerships.
Commercial chartering is handed by Blue Net Chartering, the joint venture with Peter Dohle Schiffahrts and Greek container owner Costamare.
Aden joins Colin Rawlins as co-managing director of V.Ships Germany.
His move brings to an end a short stint of under a year running Zeaborn Ship Management, which Aden left in December.
He previously worked since 2012 for Erck Rickmers shipmanagement operation ER Schiffahrts, where he was managing director.
