Singapore's Sea Consortium is expanding its fleet with contracts for two Chinese newbuildings.

Brokers said the company has ordered a pair of 2,700-teu ships for delivery in November 2020 and March 2021.

No price has been revealed for the deal at Zhoushan Changhong.

Earlier this year, Sea Consortium, which controls feeder operator X-Press Feeders, continued its energetic buying spree with the acquisition of its largest vessel to date.

It was understood to have bought the 6,661-teu NYK Terra (built 2008) for a firm price of around $25m.

It has 31 operational vessels and no other orders.

None of its current units were built later than 2014.
