Croatian shipowner Atlantska Plovidba has put a handysize bulker back into service two months after it suffered serious damage in a collision.

The Zagreb-listed company said the 39,000-dwt AP Revelin (built 2016) was in collision with another vessel in the US on 21 August.

A new filing has revealed the bulker has now been successfully repaired and has resumed regular business operations.

The AP Revelin left the ST Engineering Halter Marine & Offshore shipyard on 14 October, the company added.

AIS data shows the ship is currently in the Caribbean, having left the US. The bulker is due in Liverpool, UK, on 2 November.

The ship was leaving Port Arthur in Texas when the accident occurred.

Photos showed part of its stern peeled open by the impact.

The owner had expected a significant loss of operational time for the ship back in August.

US Coast Guard officials told TradeWinds that the 18,143-dwt general cargoship Damgracht (built 2009) was carrying a cargo of cement when an engine alarm went off.

Crew on the Netherlands-flagged ship shut the engine off, leading to a loss of steering and an eventual collision with the AP Revelin.

In August 2021, Atlantska sold the AP Revelin to Hong Kong leasing house CSSC Shipping to cut interest expenses.

The deal included a charter back to Atlantska for eight years.
