Golden Ocean Group has named Lars-Christian Svensen as the new chief executive of Golden Ocean Management with effect from 1 January.

Svensen has been the interim CEO since June last year when Ulrik Andersen stepped down from the role.

“The board is delighted to have appointed Lars-Christian Svensen, who has demonstrated his abilities serving as interim CEO. We are confident Lars-Christian will be successful in his work, building shareholder value for Golden Ocean,” Ola Lorentzon, chairman of the board, said in a statement.

Svensen joined Golden Ocean in 2020 as its chief commercial officer. He previously worked for Western Bulk, Petredec and Cmarine Services.

“I would like to thank the board for the confidence and continued support. With the rest of the Golden Ocean team, I endeavour to keep driving us forward and to maintain our position as industry leaders,” Svensen said.

Golden Ocean will report its results for the fourth quarter on 29 February. The company’s shares rose 15% in 2023 in Oslo.
