Portugal's Portline Bulk International has confirmed the sale of two early 2000-built supramax bulkers, but has denied reports that a third vessel has been sold.

Jorge Fernandes, executive director of Portline, confirmed that the 52,000-dwt Port Estoril and the 50,000-dwt Achilleus (both built 2001), both are committed for sale, but said he is not in a position to release further details.

TradeWinds reported 30 October that the ships had been sold for $4.2m each.

Lisbon-based shipowner denied that a third ship, the Tsuneishi-built 52,000-dwt Angela (built 2004) has been sold.

Special survey

Brokers have reported that the ship, which is due for special survey in 2022, has gone to an undisclosed buyer for $5m.

Commenting on future plans, Fernandes said Portline will continue to monitor the market in case any opportunities to either buy or sell vessels do present themselves.

Portline was once controlled by the Portuguese state, but is now in private hands. The company is listed with 16 bulkers, mostly supramax and ultramax bulkers.
