Norwegian ferry company Color Group suffered a sizeable loss in the first half this year due to extensive cancellations from the coronavirus pandemic.
The group's pre-tax loss amounted to NOK 756m ($89.8m) against a NOK 108m loss in the first half of 2019.
Operating revenue fell to NOK 1.12bn in the first half of 2020, from from NOK 2.28bn in the same period of last year.
The group has a fleet of seven ferries and operates four international lines connecting Norway, Germany, Denmark and Sweden.
When the coronavirus hit in March, the company started extensive cost cuts and cancelled all passenger traffic.
Book equity for Color Group amounted to NOK 1.34bn at the end of the first half of 2020.
The Color Group is now starting up its sailings again. Director Helge Otto Mathisen said it is espececially important to restart the route between Oslo and Kiel, which is operated by the 75,000-gt ropax ferries Color Magic (built 2007) and Color Fantasy (built 2004).
The company received NOK 129m in compensation from the Norwegian state due to Covid-19.
Color Group is owned by Olav Nils Sunde and his family.
