Greek shipowner Allseas Marine is set to exit the handysize bulker segment after selling a 16-year-old vessel.
Several shipbrokers reported that the Michael Bodouroglou-led company has sold the 28,400-dwt Voula Seas (built 2002) to a Lebanese buyer for $6.5m, a price that is roughly in line with expectations.
In August last year, Allseas was reported to have sold the vessel to a Chinese buyer for $5.3m, but the deal failed to finalise.
Allseas, which bought the handysize as Destino Dos for $11m in 2012, did not respond to requests for comment.
Modern fleet
Allseas now has a diversified modern fleet of 15 vessels with a mix of bulkers, containerships and two tankers.
It has also been aiming to sell more modern bulkers. In October last year, it sold the 75,000-dwt Dream Seas (built 2009) for nearly $14.2m to Shenzhen Energy Transport.
This year, brokers said Allseas was seeking a buyer for the 56,000-dwt Kavala Seas (built 2011), but the bulker remains in its fleet.
