Oslo-listed bulker owner Jinhui Shipping & Transportation is again giving handsome benefits and salaries to key executives.

The company's annual report for 2018 shows that chairman Ng Siu Fai, 62, and chief executive Ng Kam Wah Thomas, 56, last year received a combined compensation of $6.83m, a sum equally split between the two in salaries, bonuses and other payments.

This was a sharp increase from 2017, when the two received a total of $3.89m.

The report also showed that Jinhui's pre-tax profit for last year came in at $8.7m.

The two founded the company in 1987 and have several times surprised the market with solid salary and bonus packages. In 2010, the two received in excess of $9.5m each in bonus.

In 2016, when the bulker market fell to its worst in 30 years, the Jinhui directors reduced the payments by 27.6%.

Jinhui has a fleet of 18 bulkers in the supramax and ultramax segments.

Through company Jinhui Holdings, the Ng family controls 55.7% of the shares in Jinhui.
