Oldendorff Carriers' staff in Dubai have been making a name for themselves in more ways than one.
While many of their colleagues were busy getting ready for the Eisbein festivities in Hamburg at the end of this week, staff at its Middle East branch had already been celebrating in traditional German fashion.
A posting on Twitter shows a group of the Oldendorff crew in Dubai dressed in traditional German lederhosen.
The setting might be a little different to the annual Oktoberfest activities back in Germany — one can only imagine what the passers-by made of it in the traditional Arab country.
'Great time'
But it seemed to have been a success, with the staff tweeting that “a great time was had by all”.
Oldendorff has been luring people to the Emirate since establishing an office there in 2015 in an attempt to create a regional hub similar to those in Lubeck/Hamburg and Singapore.
That was in response to increasing activity in dry bulk shipping in the Indian and Middle East Africa region.
The Oktoberfest celebrations brought a whole new slant to the agenda of bringing diversity and inclusion into the business of shipping.
