S’hail Shipping has entered its most recent bulker acquisition into the Klaveness-run Baumarine pool, the Norwegian shipowner has confirmed.

The addition of the 77,000-dwt S’hail al Wajbah (built 2005) increases the number of ships it has in the pool to three.

The Imabari-built vessel is the former Japanese operated Double Prosperity and is classed by NKK and flies the Qatari flag.

“With this third vessel in the Baumarine Pool, S’hail is becoming a noteworthy participant for Klaveness,” said head of pool management Hans Næss Olstad.

TradeWinds first reported that S’hail had acquired the ship in late November takings its fleet of bulkers to five.

S’hail Shipping is now Qatar’s largest dry bulk carrier owning company and is rapidly growing into becoming a major player, said Klaveness.

Mohamed Khalifa Al-Sada, chairman and managing director of S’hail and Rajiv Pal, its chief executive, said they are looking forward to “developing a long-term mutually beneficial strategic relationship with Klaveness which translates into contributing to Qatar’s economy in non-oil & gas sectors”.

Michael Jorgensen, head of panamax dry bulk in Klaveness Asia said: “We are happy to have this third addition form S’hail and their Qatar Team with us.

“I can see a significant opportunity in our pool platform to improve the way we work and add positive P&L for our members.”
