A breakup of the United Ocean fleet has continued with the latest ship sold supporting a further rise in the pricing of supramax bulkers.
The 58,000-dwt Ocean Paradise (built 2007) has been sold for $9.10m to Singaporean buyers, brokers say.
George Iliopoulos of Intermodal wrote in the brokerage’s weekly report the rumoured price for the bulker marked a 40% climb on the $6.5m paid for the 52,000-dwt Tenshi Maru (built 2007) back in February this year.
Leading brokers in London point to the $8.85m paid for the 55,900-dwt Fleet Phoenix (built 2006) earlier this month, reflecting a more modest improvement over the last done.
VesselsValue prices the Ocean Paradise at $9.11m today.
United Ocean filed for bankruptcy at the Tokyo district court in January.
The Ocean Paradise is the seventh bulker sold from the United Ocean Fleet this year.
