Dutch owner Vroon continues to reduce its fleet of post-panamaxes after selling another bulker in a 93,000-dwt series contracted at Cosco in 2007.
According to European shipbrokers, the Scandinavian Express (built 2010) has been sold to Lavinia Corp of Greece for $15.8m.
Last month, Vroon sold sistership Scotian Express (built 2011) to Argentinian shipowner Interocean for $16.7m.
Vroon, which has not responded to numerous requests for comments on the two sales, made a comeback in dry bulk at the end of 2007 with an order for six post-panamaxes with a price tag of $61m each. Two of the ships were later cancelled, but it took delivery of the other four from 2010.
The sale of the Scandinavian Express and Scotian Express will leave the company with sisterships Siberian Express (built 2012) and Sicilian Express (built 2013).
Dry cargo brokers suggest Vroon may have had extensive contract coverage for the quartet. It is highly diversified and manages and owns about 150 ships, including offshore vessels, livestock carriers, containerships and car carriers.
The Scandinavian Express is the third bulker Lavinia has bought in quick succession. Last month, it paid K Line $29m for the Imabari Shipbuilding-constructed, 180,000-dwt Cape Zenith (built 2010), and took the Dalian-built, 180,300-dwt New Dalian (built 2010) from Cosco Shipping Bulk for $27m.
Lavinia had not responded to requests for comment before TradeWinds went to press.
