Swiss petrochemical company Ineos is set to start-up the second strand of its new US-Europe ethane trade with the arrival of the first cargo in the UK.
The company’s chartered vessel, Evergas’ 27,500-cbm Ineos Insight (built 2015), is due to arrive at the Grangemouth terminal in Scotland today.
The cargo was loaded at Ineos’ Marcus Hook refinery on the US east coast.
Ineos already shipped a first cargo from the Marcus Hook to its refinery at Rafnes in Norway in March.
Ineos Insight is one of eight ethane and LNG-capable so-called Dragon-ships which are capable of using LNG as fuel.
Earlier this month Ineos shipped its first ethane cargo to Europe out of the US Gulf.
This shipment, which was carried on sistership Ineos Intrepid (built 2015), left energy logistics outfit Enterprise Products Partners’ Morgan's Point terminal on the Gulf Coast with a cargo bound for Rafnes.
