John Fredriksen’s Ship Finance International is the latest owner to secure the sale of a vintage VLCC to a storage buyer.
TradeWinds understands the 310,000-dwt Front Century (built 1998), which is on time charter to Frontline, will leave the Norwegian group.
Brokers point to Kunlun as the buyer of the tanker at a price of $18.8m.
Speculation has surrounded the sale of some of Fredriksen’s older VLCCs for several weeks.
Fredriksen is not the only owner to have sold veteran tankers to storage buyers of late.
In late October DHT Holdings offloaded the 309,300-dwt DHT Chris (built 2001) to Agritrade Resources for $23.7m.
Several VLCCs in the fleet of BW Group have also been mentioned in connection with storage buyers.
