A giant containership has been dragged back to port in Piraeus after losing power in Greek waters this weekend.
The 13,870-teu Millau Bridge (built 2015) requested assistance from the Hellenic Coast Guard (HCG) after suffering a main engine problem northwest of Milos.
Greek tug company Spanopoulos Group deployed three units to bring the vessel to the port of Piraeus, a company official says.
The tugs Christos XXII, Christos XXXIII and Christos XXXIV completed the job yesterday evening and the ship still remains anchored at Piraeus.
Tracking data from MarineTraffic shows the ship left Piraeus at 7am on 18 December and stopped close to the island of Milos almost six hours later. The tugs arrived late that evening to take the Millau Bridge back to a Piraeus anchorage.
A crew of 23 was on board when the incident occurred.
The Millau Bridge is owned by Japanese company Shoei Kishen Kaisha and is chartered by compatriot K Line.
It was laden and en route from Piraeus to Egypt's Port Said, HCG said.
