Japanese owner Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) is understood to have sold a third modern capesize bulker in quick succession.
Sources say the Tsuneishi Cebu-built 180,000-dwt Sampaguita Dream (built 2014) has sold for $28m, which shows a stabilization in values.
Brokers are divided on the buyer of the vessel, with some pointing to the ever-active Winning Shipping. Others suggest the more-low key Chellaram of Hong Kong has picked up the ship.
Last month MOL sold the 181,000-dwt Coral Dream (built 2014) to Sinokor Merchant Marine and the Aquarius Dream (built 2014) to Winning Shipping - both for $28m each.
Winning has been among the most active buyers of capesize bulkers this year, taking nine other ships, according to Vesseslvalue.
Sources say MOL has been reducing its dry cargo exposure this year, however, its strategy has now shifted slightly.
Previously it had been offloading older vessels but its latest sales have involved more modern bulkers.
MOL is presently the world’s fifth largest owner of capesize bulkers, sandwiched between sixth placed John Fredriksen and K Line in fourth position, according to data from Clarksons.
