Higher volumes could not prevent a slide in third quarter revenue at Orient Overseas Container Line.

Its top line slipped by 13.8% to $1.5bn in the three months to the end of September.

The fall was heaviest in the TransPacific with a near 20% fall, while smaller declines were seen in the Asia-Europe, Trans-Atlantic and Intra-Asia Australasia routes.

OOIL, which will release a more complete financial report at a later stage, saw overall volumes rise by over 5%.

This was largely driven by a 14% improvement in the Trans-Pacific.
