Naikai Zosen has seen its profit for the last nine months rise significantly after winning an order for eight vessels from Wan Hai Lines.

The Japanese shipbuilder reported net income of JPY 497m ($4.4m), against JPY 147m in the corresponding period of 2015.

Its nine-month revenue also improved from JPY 21.7bn to JPY 23.8bn.

Naikai Zosen put pen to paper with Wan Hai for the first time in six years and has begun the construction of eight 1,900-teu vessels.

According to Clarksons, it also has a few passenger ferries and vehicle carriers under construction.

The shipbuilder is projecting net income of JPY 100m for the full year and revenue of JPY 30.5bn.
