Oslo-listed gas tanker owner BW LPG has denied it has sold one of its two remaining 1990s-built LPG vessels for demolition.
European scrap brokers reported the 59,000-cbm BW Helios (built 1992) had been offloaded for green demolition India for $432 per ldt or $8.1m.
BW LPG CEO Martin Ackermann said the ship is due for special survey in the first quarter next year and the company is evaluating whether to dock the vessel, sell it for trading or recycle it.
He insisted no decision had been made.
BW Helios has been in the fleet since it was delivered from the UK Govan shipyard.
The company owns two other similarly-sized ships: the 59,000-cbm BW Nantes and BW Nice (both built 2003)
Its oldest vessel is the 78,000-cbm Berge Summit (built 1990).
