Korea's DSME has inked yet another LNG carrier newbuilding - its fifth in December.
The company said on Tuesday that an unnamed client in the Oceania region has ordered a vessel due in the first half of 2021.
It has now booked 45 ships worth $6.58bn this year, including 17 LNG carriers, 16 VLCCs, 16 large container vessels and five specialised units.
This is more than 90% of its 2018 order target of $7.3bn.
Based on its previous order total, the new contract is worth $180m.
"DSME's strengths in LNG carriers have been intensive research and development since the early 2000s," it said.
An official added: "We will do our best to achieve our order target until the end."
On Friday, another Oceania company inked an LNG carrier for 2021 delivery from DSME.
And in the same week, Greek tycoon John Angelicoussis contracted another LNG carrier, the 101st ship he has placed at the yard since 1994.
Alpha Tankers & Freighters, BW LNG, Minerva Marine and Flex LNG are the other owners known to have contracted LNG tonnage at DSME this year, a period which has now seen over 50 newbuildings booked globally.
