GTT said it received an order from South Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) to kit out a vessel on order from the John Angelicoussis-owned Maran Gas Maritime.

Philippe Berterottiere-led GTT will equip a 173,000-cbm floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) with its NO96 cryogenic membrane containment system. The vessel will be built at DSME's Geoje shipyard on behalf of Maran Gas Maritime, the shipping company's first FSRU.

Delivery is scheduled for 2020.

"GTT is very pleased to continue its excellent partnership with DSME and Maran Gas Maritime,"  Berterottiere said. "This new order demonstrates their high confidence in our NO96 technology, which fits LNG carriers as well as other LNG storage vessels."

TradeWinds reported that Angelicoussis first signaled an interest in the FSRU market last November, noting the high barriers to entry.

“It is an area where, because of the price, it is difficult for too many people to break in,” he said.

GTT said the FSRU market currently has 24 units in service.
