Solvang Shipping said exercised options for two ethylene gas carriers at Hyundai Mipo Dockyard.
The Stavanger-based company said last week that it signed a shipbuilding contract for two firm orders for 21,000-cbm ethylene carriers with Hyundai Mipo, plus two options.
Solvang, which runs a diversified gas carrier fleet spanning VLGCs down to semi-refrigerated vessels, said the ships will have full exhaust gas cleaning, otherwise known as scrubbers, and Tier II compliance
That "gives high flexibility with regards to existing and future environmental regulations."
The Steensland-controlled company is paying $50m per ship, Tradewinds understands. The two exercised options will be delivered in the second and third quarter of 2019.
