Wison Offshore & Marine is marketing an integrated LNG and power plant vessel that could be used on the 30 or so projects worldwide that are considering floating storage and regasification units (FSRUs).
The Shanghai-based company says the units, which it dubs floating storage regasification and power generation (FSRP) integrates the functions of LNG loading and storage, regasification and power generation.
The units can produce power ranging from 10 megawatts up to 800 megawatts. Wison FSRP designs integrate storage, regasification and power generation in a single unit.
Wison claims the unit offers a "fast-track" to providing new power generation in developing countries as the need for an onshore power plant is obviated.
Yung Cui, chief executive of Wison, says the units are being considered in South East Asia, West Africa, the Caribbean and India.
