A livestock carrier and its crew have been detained in Australia in a dispute over unpaid wages.
The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) held the 24,400-dwt Maysora (built 1989) at Fremantle after an inspection on Tuesday.
The 19 seafarers walked off the ship and were detained by Australian Border Force (ABF) officers.
Most are from Pakistan, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.
"AMSA detained the vessel following that inspection," an AMSA spokesperson said.
"The vessel will not be allowed to leave port until AMSA is satisfied that wages have been paid and the operator demonstrates plans for ongoing payment of all wages."
Operator Arab Ship Management of Jordan has been contacted for comment.
“The ABF can confirm 19 crew members from a commercial vessel were detained at Fremantle on Monday and Tuesday this week, after their maritime crew visas were ceased," an ABF spokesman said.
"The ABF conducts regular operational activity at Australia’s ports to ensure all foreign crew comply with the conditions of their visas and is continuing to monitor this vessel and its crew."
