Norway's bulker owner Spar Shipping has second biggest shareholder in Arne Blystad-controlled heavy-lift and wind vessel player OHT.

The Bergen-based outfit took the position by acquiring at auction Grand China Logistics' 60% stake in OHT shareholder Lotus Marine, according to Norwegian daily Finansavisen.

As of September, Lotus had a 25.9% stake.

That puts it behind Blystad's Songa Corp, which had 51.7%.

The company only had one other shareholder, China's Lotus Marine, which now has a 25.9% stake.

Spar is owned brothers Tom and Iwan Eide Knudsen.

Company chief executive Jarle Ellefsen declined to provide Finansavisen with further detail on he transaction.

For a number of years, Spar has made efforts to collect $25.3m in claims against Grand China Logistics and has won several judgements, but the outfit has not paid up.

The claim involves defaults over on charters for three supramax bulkers. Annual interest of more than 8% is understood to have brought the total figure considerably higher than the $25.3m principal amount.

Oslo-listed OHT was founded in 2006, originally as a heavy-lift vessel specialist. The company owns five semi-submersible ships on the water, with three more offshore wind farm installation vessels now on order at China Merchants Heavy Industry in China.

Blystad's wife, lawyer Marianne Heien Blystad, is OHT's chairman.
