Oslo-listed BW Offshore (BWO) is scrapping a laid-up FSO built in 1980.

The 361,000-dwt former ULCC Belokamenka will be recycled in compliance with the Hong Kong Convention, the company said.

The Japanese-built unit, previously known as Berge Pioneer, has been stacked in Indonesia since completing a contract as a crude oil terminal for Rosneft off Murmansk, Russia, in late 2015.

The sale has raised $20m, but a yard has not yet been picked to dismantle the vessel.

The unnamed buyer will ensure that the chosen recycler is certified to ISO 14001 and OSHMS 18001 standards, the Hong Kong Convention and the IMO 2012 guidelines.

It will also see that the breaker provides a statement of completion of the recycling in accordance with the Hong Kong Convention, BWO said.

"The company will nominate a representative to be on site at the recycling yard to monitor progress, compliance and that the recycling plan is being applied," it added.
