Vernicos Tugs & Salvage has expanded its fleet with the addition of a tug from Mexico that will be deployed to oil business projects.
The Piraeus-based company has acquired the 4,750-bhp Oceanos (built 2003) from Mexican owner Itertug.
This deal follows two more acquisitions concluded by Vernicos in previous months for a pair of tugs from Pacific Basin.
The company says the Oceanos will be the most powerful tug operating in Greek waters, upon its delivery in January.
Thanks to its special characteristics, the new Vernicos tug will be capable of working on oil exploration projects.
Vernicos is looking to become more active in this sector and will deploy the vessel in the east Mediterranean.
