Azerbaijan's Caspian Shipping Company (CSC) and Moscow River Shipping Company are teaming up to run Caspian Sea cruises, with further newbuildings planned.

They will initially operate a new ship called Pyotr Velikiy, which is under construction at Russia's Lotos Shipyard for delivery in 2019, according to Cybercruises.

The operation will focus on the Black Sea, Russian inland waterways and the Caspian, including calls in Turkmenistan.

Both companies will also look to order new cruiseships.

Pyotr Velikiy will at first run from Baku in Azerbaijan to Astrakhan in Russia, with the itinerary expanded in 2020.
