Saga Cruises of the UK has said it has not yet decided on whether to go ahead with a second cruiseship newbuilding at Meyer Werft in Germany.
The company was responding to a media report that it had declared its option at the shipbuilder for another 57,000-gt vessel.
Saga told TradeWinds: “When Saga announced that we were going to launch our first ever newbuild ship in 2019, we also stated that we had an option for a second new ship.
“This position remains unchanged. We have not taken a decision about whether to exercise the option to purchase a second new ship.”
It added the option expires at the end of 2017 and a decision will be made before then.
The first 1,000-passenger ship is due in 2019.
Meyer Werft also said it had no new information on the option.
