UK cruise line Swan Hellenic is to trade again following the bankruptcy of its owner All Leisure Group last month.
Canadian travel group G Adventures has bought the brand from All Leisure’s administrators Grant Thornton.
No price was revealed and the deal does not include the 12,900-gt chartered cruiseship Minerva (built 2004), which has been returned to its owner, Artica Adventure & Cruise Shipping.
Swan Hellenic said: “We’re pleased to announce that G Adventures has acquired the iconic British brand Swan Hellenic, with the aim of re-launching the brand and re-establishing the award-winning values for which Swan Hellenic has become so well known.
“We plan to restart the operation of Swan Hellenic in 2018 with a new ship and new voyages that will continue the brand’s extraordinary legacy. Itineraries will be announced this summer.”
Swan Hellenic is the third All Leisure company picked up by G Adventures, following tour operators Travelsphere and Just You.
John Warner, vice-president of global sales for G Adventures, said: “We know how beloved Swan Hellenic is to its loyal customer base and the respect it has in the British travel community.
“Our long-term aim is to re-launch Swan Hellenic and re-establish the award-winning values that make it so well-loved.”
G Adventures already has one small expedition cruiseship.
