BC Ferries’ Mike Corrigan has decided to leave the company and pursue a new career as the new chief executive of Interferry.
Corrigan will leave his current role at the Canadian ferry owner on 31 March 2017 and immediately replace Interferry's interim chief executive Darrell Bryan.
The appointment of Corrigan was decided during the annual general meeting held at Interferry’s 41st annual conference.
Corrigan said: “I am excited to be leading Interferry, advocate on behalf of our industry, focus efforts on passenger and operational safety and build the reputation of ferry operators around the world.
“I believe the experience I have gained for the past 13 years in leadership positions at BC Ferries can be leveraged to good effect in my new role.”
Corrigan has served as a director at the shipping association for six years, more recently as a treasurer.
Mike Grainger, chairman of Interferry, said: “His experience leading BC Ferries, one of the world’s largest ferry operators, means he comes to the position knowing first-hand what many of our members experience and how regulations being set for deep-sea shipping are not always appropriate for ferry operations.”
