Norway’s top shipbroking firm is expanding its footprint in Singapore, Astrup Fearnley group chief executive Even Matre Ellingsen has confirmed to TradeWinds.

The company plans to establish its LNG Advisory Services and grow the activities of Fearnley Offshore in the Lion City.

News of the growth came as the top brass from the Oslo-based company descended on Singapore for the latest in its string of 150th anniversary celebrations.

“Our company has developed considerably, both in scope and scale, [over] the past 150 years,” Ellingsen said.

“A significant contributor to that development is Astrup Fearnley's presence in the Asian region, and specifically here in Singapore.

“Singapore has for many years been the prime hub for our business in this region. That is why we have been here, through ups and downs for more than 30 years.

'Expanding'

“In fact, our office here is the biggest Astrup Fearnley hub outside Norway, covering all segments within ship and offshore broking.

“To that respect, I’m extremely happy to announce that we are now expanding our presence and our investments in Singapore.”

Around 600 guests squeezed into LAVO Italian Restaurant & Lounge, which is located at the top of Singapore’s iconic Marina Bay Sands.

The event attracted guests from many of the biggest names in Singapore’s shipping community, including Eastern Pacific Shipping, PCL, BW, ExxonMobil and Stena Bulk.
