Robbers boarded two offshore vessels in Mexico before stealing equipment, cargo and personal items.

The Proceso website said 11 armed men raided the 7,800-gt accommodation vessel Vikrant Dolphin (built 2011) and Mexico Maritime Management’s 3,500-dwt supply ship Global Explorer (built 1978) on Saturday at the port of Dos Bocas.

The men had reached the ships by boat. Crews alerted the navy but the attackers were able to flee.

Global Explorer’s chief officer, Mauro Martínez, told local media the robbers were wearing balaclavas.

The crew headed to a safe room until the navy arrived.
