Nigerian pirates have abducted four seafarers from a Russian reefer off Port Harcourt.
Lithuanian media said the 152,884–cbf Solarte (built 1982) was attacked 100 miles west of the port en route from Benin on 19 October.
The kidnapped men were the Ukrainian master and first officer, plus two Lithuanian crew. Their names have not been revealed.
Reports said a small speedboat with armed robbers on board approached the vessel. The attackers used ladders to board.
They broke into the bridge and seized the four men. The rest of the 20-strong crew were barricaded in the engine room.
The Nigerian military later escorted the vessel into Port Harcourt.
The owner has not yet received a ransom demand.
The ship was carrying frozen fish and is operated by Arctic Shipping of St Petersburg.
Lithuania’s criminal police bureau has begun an investigation.
