Pirates targeted at least three vessels off Nigeria this week and abducted some of the crew from one of them.
The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC)’s Piracy Reporting Centre reports that all of the incidents took place in the waters off Brass.
In one of the incidents, pirates boarded an offshore supply vessel and robbed and kidnapped two crew members.
Rest are safe
The remaining seafarers on the vessel, which was not identified, are safe.
When the alarm was raised, non-essential crew members retreated to the ship's citadel.
Another offshore vessel was boarded this week, but in that case the pirates escaped before it was boarded by the Nigerian navy.
Tanker approached
Another incident saw seven pirates armed with guns approached a tanker as it was underway, but the crew activated water hoses.
"Due to the high free board and hardening measures deployed by the vessel, the pirates aborted the attack and moved away," the ICC said. "All crew safe."
