Two seafarers have been kidnapped from a CMA CGM chartered containership off West Africa.

Pirates boarded the 4,360-teu CMA CGM Turquoise(built 2009), owned by Dioryx Maritime Corp, which was en route from Lagos to Douala off Nigeria. The second officer and electrician are now missing.

A statement released on behalf of Dioryx said all effort was being made to find out what had happened to the men.

"Up until now, there has been nothing to indicate that either of the men has been injured or harmed," it said.

The IMB Piracy Reporting Centre said the master raised the alarm when he became aware of the intruders but two seafarers did not make it into the citadel.

It is the second kidnapping incident off West Africa this week.

On Monday TradeWinds reported six crew members including the master were taken from the 5,900-dwt products tanker Puli (built 2007).
