A Schulte Group-owned containership is resuming its voyage after conducting a day-long search for a missing seafarer.
Greek search and rescue will continue the search for a missing crew member from the 1,740-teu Louisa Schulte (built 2008). But the vessel is now heading to Rijeka, Croatia after completing its own search both onboard and at sea for the missing seafarer.
The crew member was a second engineer and a Burmese national. The officer was first reported missing at 1315 hours local time on Tuesday after having last been seen at 0900 hours. The vessel was off south Greece en route from Egypt at the time.
Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement's (BSM) Cyprus office and P&I Club representatives will board to conduct a full investigation into the incident.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of our second engineer during this difficult time and we thank the Greek search and rescue teams for their continuing efforts," according to a statement from BSM Cyprus.
The Singapore-flagged vessel is classed with DNV. Assuranceforeningen Gard is the P&I insurer, according to Equasis.
