Efforts are ongoing to refloat a Dutch-flagged and controlled multipurpose ship that ran aground in Scottish waters on Wednesday 17 July.

The Wagenborg Shipping-operated 3,250-dwt Priscilla (built 2009) ran aground at Pentland Skerries off the northern coast of Scotland with six crew members onboard.

Refloating attempts have failed so far, but the vessel remains in a stable condition and the crew are safe, according to the UK’s Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA).

There have been no reports of any pollution, the MCA said. The Bureau Veritas-classed vessel was last inspected in 2014.

Hugh Shaw, the UK government official responsible for salvage operations, is understood to be in touch with the owner and insurer "regarding the future plans for salvage".

No one at Wagenborg was immediately available for comment when contacted by TradeWinds.
